“They call me “Nyhtmare”. I am a 20 year old Canadian artist”.
Q. What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
A. I have lost myself over the years and unfortunately have not found myself as of now. Yet maybe this whole time it was right in front of me. I grew up making beats, listening to music.. So recently I sat down and put together my first ever full project. I am extremely disturbed with how it came out, and I love it. I have spent time obsessing over horror and what makes people cringe and I think incorporating Melodies with gross, natural, shocking sounds can give it an extreme feeling that few people have received from music.
Q. Tell us about your new music (Song/EP/Mixtape/Album)? And what’s the story behind it?
A. This project is my first one I am extremely disturbed by. I wrote it all in the hospital while I was extremely sick so the lyrics are very gross. I recorded it all in almost the same day, so it gives it a consistent feeling.
Q. What makes your music unique? How would you describe it? (genres/sub-genres)
A. My music is extremely disturbing and experimental. Horrorcore infused with over-the-top edm bass gives it a very shocking sound.
Q. Who are your biggest music influences? And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
A. Ghostemane is all I listened to growing up.. So I definitely take a lot of inspiration from him. Recently artists like Nascar Aloe, IC3PEAK, and Gorejit have been really influencing my sound. If one day I could get a coffee with Ghostemane.
Q. How long have you been in the music industry?
A. Since about 2017.
Q. Which is the best moment in your musical career that you’re most proud of? (awards, projects or public performances etc.
A. Receiving messages from other languages, saying how I have saved their life with just a few songs… it’s more then anything I could ever imagined. I wasn’t prepared for people to actually enjoy my music.
Q. How do you balance your music with other obligations – family, friends or work?
A. I don’t. I wake up and create until I pass out, sadly, since I am very physically ill it is all I have energy for right now.
Q. What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
A. Why do you make music? The reward for making music is making music, as Dave Grohl once said! It is an outlet like no other.
Q. If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?
A. My message to my fans is please take care of yourself. I know all of this is fun and edgy but It isn’t a joke. My lyrics are written in physical agony so I feel like I have a bit of extra motivation right now, but if you feel like you have no motivation to create… just let it come. Everything happens for a reason.
Q. What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects?
A. My plan is to record another project! My plan is to try to get healthy, and make friends in the industry.
